I'm very, very ambivalent about this movie.
Of course, it's always nice to go to the world of Star Wars again, meeting R2D2, the Jedi, the stormtroppers, Jabba Hutt and so on. I also like animated movies, but the animation here feels "cheap" - beards of the Lego variety (made of plastic), for instance. But there are some quite beautiful images.
However, in a way there isn't much to it. The excitement is not really there (Anakin Skywalker is not killed in this movie, and I say that without feeling that I'm spoiling anything, even though he is shot at throughout the movie). There is an awful lot of fighting in hopeless situations, but not that much of a story. Oh, Ahsoka Tano is kind of cool. (And there are actually a few dialogues which made me smile.)
Of course I should mention that I've never been hopelessly in love with the Star Wars franchise. Possibly, that would help quite a lot. To me, it seems that if you don't feel the slightest bit of urge to see the guys from Star Wars again (just for the sake of it), this movie is not for you.

Star Wars is a wonderful thing, despite the fact that I dont like Lucas is milking the franchise and that this movie is an obvious attempt to make more money with mediocre material, I still wants to see it :x
ReplyDeletei guess George Lucas finally got to make (or a least approve of) a whole Star Wars movie after his love for CGI, looks fun though
